STEVEN GERRARD insists Luis Suarez will not be sold to Arsenal.
Liverpool captain Gerrard is still trying to persuade the want-away Uruguayan striker to stay at Anfield.
The Gunners have had an offer of £40million and one pound rejected.
And yesterday Gerrard declared: “I am really confident Luis won’t be going to anyone else in England.
“He is one of the best players in the world, so I can understand why clubs are showing an interest in him.
“But if I can use my influence to try to make him stay, of course I will do that.
“I enjoy playing with him and I don’t want him to go. For Liverpool to be successful and to keep moving forward, we need to keep our best players.”
Suarez, 26, has excelled since joining Liverpool from Ajax for £22.7m, scoring 51 goals in 96 appearances.
But now he wants to quit for a club in the Champions League and has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid.
However, John W Henry, Liverpool’s owners, has also insisted that Suarez will not be sold.
“We are not going to sell Luis,” he said. “It’s not about finances.”
